The new EU regulation banning old fluorinated waxes and the withdrawal of some wax companies from the World Cup circus proved to be a stroke of luck for HWK Skiwachs. We have done our homework in recent years and developed a large product range with fluorine-free waxes.
Before these new fluorine-free waxes can go on the market, they have to be put through their paces. No place is better suited for this than the glacier in Sölden, where we spent our last weeks doing extensive wax tests.
However, the glacier in Sölden is not only the perfect place for our wax tests, but also a varied destination for summer excursions. Whether for biking, road biking or hiking, in the region of the glacier in Sölden, everyone can find something to do.
The Ötztal Glacier Road is the highest high alpine road in the eastern Alps and leads to an altitude of 2,800m over a length of about 15km. Once you have reached an altitude of 2,800 meters, the Schwarze Schneidbahn I & II and the Tiefenbachbahn take you even higher. At over 3,000 meters, there are imposing viewpoints, such as the Schwarze Schneide nature platform or the Tiefenbachkogl panoramic rock footbridge.
But if you don’t just want to enjoy the view, but also to work out physically, you should venture onto the Sölden glacier by bike. The route with an average gradient of 11%, is a real challenge.
Of course, hikers also get their money’s worth. At the Rettenbachferner and the Tiefenbachferner there are countless hiking routes on which the area can be experienced extensively. Popular are the routes to the Braunschweiger Hut at almost 2,800 meters or to the mountaineering village Vent.
In this sense we wish you a wonderful summer and hope you have as much fun on the glacier as we do.
Your HWK team
