Developing excellent ski waxes is our core discipline. We want to offer our customers more and want to make it as easy as possible for them.
This article is all about basic preparation in the Nordic division.
How are base waxes applied correctly and what is needed for this? Here you will find step-by-step instructions to ensure you don’t do anything wrong:
- Before applying the appropriate wax, the coating should be brushed out either coarsely with the steel brush or hard with the bronze brush.
- Then evenly apply the appropriate wax with the iron. It is best to lightly melt the wax beforehand and then rub it on.
- The wax can then be ironed in – be sure not to forget the edges and the center groove. Observing the specified ironing temperature, perform this procedure 2 to 3 times from the tip of the ski to the end of the ski.
- Allow the wax to cool and, after about 15 minutes, remove it with a Plexi blade. Hard waxes should be removed while still warm to the touch.
- Remove the wax from the center groove with the groove pin and don’t forget to remove the sidewalls with the plexi blade.
- After stripping, finely brush out the coating with the bronze brush. Care must be taken to ensure that this happens in the direction of travel, i.e. from the tip of the ski to the tail.
- Finally, brush the base hard with a nylon brush and finish lightly with a polishing cloth.
With these instructions you are well prepared for all cases and can cover a very wide range of applications.
