If you don’t live at the foot of a glacier, you’ll have to stow your skis over the summer. For all those who still don’t want to stay idle, however, road cycling is a super alternative.
Our region, the Kufsteinerland, is known as the racing bike destination par excellence. From steep climbs, where you really break a sweat, to kilometers of flat stretches along the Inn River, the Kufsteinerland offers everything that makes the racing cyclist’s heart beat faster.
Breathtaking mountain lakes, idyllic villages, meadows, fields and forests. Past the Kufstein fortress or along the highest mountains in Austria – the well-developed cycling network with its many different routes extends through the entire region and is bursting with variety. Whether full professional, hobby cyclist, beginner or a bike tour together with the family. In Kufsteinerland everyone is guaranteed to find the right bike route. Yes, even the Innradweg, which is the longest bike path in Europe with 520km, stretches through our diverse region.
Since 2016, Kufsteinerland has once again dedicated itself to the passion of racing cycling and has since then hosted the annual Kufsteinerland Cycling Marathon.
For road cyclists who like it steep, hilly and full of views, the Chiemgau Tour is just right. Before tackling the climb up the Niederndorfer Berg, the route leads from Kufstein along the Innradweg trail to Ebbs and Niederndorf. On asphalted roads we continue to Riedhäusl, Pittlham, Mayrhof and up to the Eiberg. A short stop at the Eiberg to enjoy the view over the Inn Valley pays off. Then it’s forty, less demanding kilometers, to Siegsdorf, where another easy climb awaits. At Ruhpolding we head back in the direction of Tyrol. Passing Walchsee and through Ebbs, you finally reach the starting point in Kufstein again.
