Producing excellent ski waxes is one thing – but using the waxes correctly is another. We want to offer our customers more and make it as easy as possible for them. That’s why we’ve developed wax recommendations in collaboration with the best service people from a wide range of industries.
This article is all about the basic preparation in the Alpine division.
How are base waxes applied correctly and what is needed for this? Here you will find step-by-step instructions to ensure you don’t do anything wrong:
- Before applying the wax, the base of the ski or snowboard must be thoroughly brushed out. For this purpose, ideally use our “steel brush coarse” or the “bronze brush hard”.
- Once the base is cleaned, the appropriate wax is applied evenly with the iron. For alpine skis, we recommend that the wax be lightly melted beforehand and only then rubbed onto the base.
- Once there is enough wax on the base, it’s time to get down to business: iron the wax in 2-3 times from the tip of the ski to the end. Here, the specified ironing temperature should be observed.
- Subsequently, the wax must cool and after about 15 minutes it can be removed with a Plexi blade. In the case of hard waxes, it is best to carry out this process while the wax is still warm to the touch.
- Once all the wax has been removed, brush out the coating again with the bronze brush. It is important that this process happens in the direction of travel – that is, from the tip of the ski to the end of the ski.
- Subsequently, brush out the coating hard with the nylon brush and polish. After a light finishing with the polishing cloth, the basic preparation is also finished.
With these instructions you are well equipped for all cases and can cover a very wide range of applications.
