Fluorine ban at FIS and IBU competitions postponed again

Already in 2019, the introduction of a complete ban on fluorine in waxes was announced. For the time being, however, this ban will not come into effect.

The International Ski Federation FIS as well as the International Biathlon Union IBU recently announced that there will be no fluorine ban in the ski wax sector in the winter season 2021/22. All fluorine products that comply with the 2020 EU regulations may therefore continue to be used.

The implementation process of a fluorine tracker, could not be adequately tested last season due to the Corona pandemic. Thus, the full implementation is postponed for the time being until after the 2021/22 season. However, FIS and IBU remain committed to developing a reliable test method to reliably detect fluorine in ski waxes in the future.

All our Top Speed Fluor products continue to comply with the EU-standard and may still be used. For sure they will also this season again be responsible for be responsible for many top placements in the World Cup.
