If you don’t go to the glacier every weekend, you will have to do without cross-country skiing in the snow in summer. We all know how quickly our fitness goes downhill, and that’s exactly what we want to avoid at all costs.
The perfect alternative to cross-country skiing in summer is the ski roller. With this sports equipment, the cross-country skiing movements can be imitated quite accurately. This not only keeps you fit, but is also a lot of fun.
But the roller ski also brings some other benefits, because endurance sport is not only good for the condition, but strengthens the immune system, reduces heart and circulatory diseases and reduces stress. So let’s get on the roller ski!
We would like to briefly explain how to make the sports equipment fit for the summer:
- Spray the closing mechanism of the binding with an oil spray
- Check binding screws for strength
Aluminum spars in particular can wear out somewhat over time.
- Check axles and nuts for strength
Is the plastic stop ring on the nut still intact?
- Turn the wheels and continuously run a thin oil into the bearing.
If the bearings run very rough, rust has probably formed on the bearings. In this case, the bearings should be replaced by a specialist.
Our tip for roller ski competitions: By removing the sealing ring of the bearing, the speed of the roller ski can be massively increased. The sealing ring slows down the sports equipment due to friction, and of course you want to avoid that in a competition. Without a sealing ring, the balls are openly visible and can be made faster by means of a silicone oil. BUT CAUTION: The silicone oil must be re-sprayed before each unit and the bearings are particularly susceptible to moisture. Always make sure that they can dry out well. For competitions, it is recommended not to install new bearings, but to use bearings that have already been run in.
